YOUTH TEAM
Accessible sport and wellbeing for Hong Kong kids
Our Youth Team is a running community for secondary school students aged 11-18 years in Hong Kong.
From complete beginners to competitive athletes, we help young runners improve their fitness, build confidence and develop a healthy, sustainable relationship with running.
New runners are welcome to join us for a free trial session.

our approach
Building a lifelong relationship with running.
community & Belonging
We believe a running club should offer more than just a place to train. It should give young runners a sense of purpose, belonging and identity. BuffCo is an independent community where runners of all backgrounds and abilities can find their place, and a team they can be proud to represent wherever they go.
A Welcoming environment
Every runner develops at their own pace. We use ability-based groups and adaptable sessions to make sure everyone is appropriately challenged, whether they're taking their first steps into running or competing at a high level. Wherever possible, we bring the whole team together, giving younger and less experienced runners opportunities to learn from and be inspired by their teammates. As runners become older and more experienced, we encourage them to become leaders themselves by setting a positive example, supporting their teammates, and helping guide the next generation of the team. Being a great teammate matters just as much to us as being a great runner.
more than running
Our goal is not simply to tell young runners what to do, but to teach them how to understand themselves. We encourage athletes to think critically about their training, recognise how their body is responding, communicate with their coaches, and gradually take more ownership of their development. Learning when to challenge yourself, when to be patient, when to step back, and how to respond when things don't go to plan are skills that extend far beyond running. We want the lessons learned through sport to help our athletes become more confident, thoughtful and independent young people.
running for life
Running should add something positive to a young person's life. Whether a BuffCo athlete goes on to compete at the highest level, runs recreationally, or eventually finds their passion somewhere else, we hope they leave the team more confident, independent and connected than when they arrived, and with a relationship with running that can last a lifetime.
